Recipe: Meatloaf Without Breadcrumbs

Meatloaf is an easy recipe to prepare. And it’s even simpler to make without breadcrumbs.

I’ve always enjoyed meatloaf. It’s a classic meal that my mom would often cook for us as young. My mom’s meatloaf would always be garnished with ketchup and served with green beans and mashed potatoes. Delicious!

My mom’s recipe contained breadcrumbs, however, I’m not a fan of buying breadcrumbs, so I decided I’d use something I always have in my pantry that is general purpose flour.

Let me assure you that the result is amazing!

How To Make The Most Delicious Meatloaf You’ve Ever Had

For a delicious meatloaf, there are a few rules to adhere to. Be assured that I’m here to guide you through each step all the way to the first bite!

1. Pick The Right Meat

A lot of us believe that if ground beef contains more than five percent fat, however, it’s not the best choice to include in recipes because of the grease that is left.

This could be the case for other recipes, however, for meatloaf, the best fat percentage is meat that has between 7-10 percent.

This makes it more compact, and juicy. Meatloaf made with the leanest meats can become extremely dry.

Whatever the case, fat will always remain in the middle of the pan.

2. Pick The Right Vegetable

To create classic meatloaf The vegetables you cook with are equally important to the beef.

Onions and garlic, as well as green chili, as well as certain aromatic herbs, are necessary. There are people who even grated carrots, which provide good flavor and color.

The most important factor to remember is making your vegetables. They must be extremely well chopped.

If you cut the vegetables into bigger chunks it will affect their texture. They may cause the meatloaf to crack or crumble.

3. Add Spices And Condiments

Include a large number of spices, like onion powder, garlic oregano, and black pepper. I highly recommend adding mustard, ketchup, and mustard to spice the meatloaf.

4. Utilize Binding Agents

To stop your meatloaf from breaking It is important to include elements that will provide it with water and act as a food-grade glue.

Egg yolks and a few tablespoons of milk are necessary for the production of moisture. Breadcrumbs are typically used for this also, however, they’re not required.

To properly tie the meatloaf without breadcrumbs, we employ an equal-parts mix consisting of cornstarch, wheat flour liquid milk, and egg yolks.

This will suffice to ensure that the meatloaf is firm so that you can cut it correctly.

5. Make The Classic Meatloaf Sauce

If you make meatloaf it’s not always perfect brown and I prefer to make a simple sauce that I put over the top. It’s beautiful and delicious.

The most well-known meatloaf sauce as well as the one I prefer is a mix of brown sugar, ketchup, and a hint of Worcestershire sauce as well as spices.

I generally spread the sauce on many occasions over the meatloaf using the pastry brush when cooking to give it a glaze.

I employed a pastry brush I bought at the local shop, but this brush made of silicone can be great too!

6. Bake It Correctly

When you’re ready for sticking the meatloaf into the oven then cover it in aluminum foil during the initial portion of cooking. then take it off at the halfway point your meatloaf may be evenly glazed over the top.

When you take the meatloaf from the oven it’s crucial to let it rest for a minimum of twenty minutes before making a cut into the meatloaf. If you don’t do that step, juices from the meatloaf will spill out and you’ll be left with an unclean, dry meatloaf on the kitchen counter.
