Smokey BBQ Jackfruit Pizza – Vegan & Gluten-Free!

Jackfruit is the most versatile fruit that has ever existed!

A delicious vegan meat substitute and delicious by itself, it can be used in many recipes and, when chopped, is similar to pulled pork (weird, you think? 

Behold this famous smoking BBQ Jackfruit Pizza, serve the slice to anyone who is vegan (or meat-lovers!), and I’m sure they’ll be enthralled by it!


Smoky BBQ Jackfruit Pizza

Makes: 2 medium pizzas or one large pizza.


Pizza Sauce:
  • Half cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 tablespoon of oregano
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vegan margarine that has been melted
Smoky Barbecue Jackfruit:
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar from apple cider
  • 1 teaspoon smoked black paprika
  • Half teaspoons of chili
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can Jackfruit in brine or water
  • Two tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 cup dairy that is vegan
  • 1 Red Onion
  • 1 capsicum red
  • Drizzle from Aioli that is vegan


  1. Create the gluten-free and vegan pizza crust following the instructions in the recipe.
  2. While the pizza is in the oven, make your pizza sauce mixing all ingredients of the sauce in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Then, wash and drain the canned Jackfruit. Shred the Jackfruit by pulling stringy pieces off the center (the triangular piece) and placing them in the bowl. Remove the core and any seeds.
  4. Create the marinade for the Jackfruit by mixing the minced garlic and apple cider vinegar, chili, smoked paprika, and salt in a bowl, and mix thoroughly. Mix the marinade with the Jackfruit shredded and stir until the Jackfruit is coated evenly.
  5. 2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil to a saucepan that is heated to medium-high, and cook the Jackfruit for 3 minutes while stirring continuously. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  6. Cut the capsicum into pieces and the red onion.
  7. Take the pizza crust off after 20 minutes, and then raise the heat to 210°C.
  8. The crust should be coated with pizza sauce. Serve with vegan Jackfruit, vegan cheese capsicum, and onion. Mix in the vegan garlic Aioli.
  9. Bake for another 20 to 23 minutes. Remove from the oven when the crust has browned, and the toppings have a nice heat.
  10. Allow 5 mins to cool and allow your taste buds to be overwhelmed by crispy delicious, delicious barbecue perfection!
