Vegetable Sausages

When I consume vegetable sausages, I often look for sausages that taste more like vegetables, not ones trying to imitate the texture or flavor of the animal.

The aim of this recipe isn’t to create an item that tastes exactly like the ones made from meat but to create a dish with flavors influenced by the plant-based ingredients that are used!

Can You Alter The Recipe?

These sausages are versatile and easy to change without affecting the texture.

Do you wish there were more spiced up? Maybe you’d like your sausages to have a smoky fire-like flavor? It’s no problem! You can easily alter the seasonings to suit your needs.

To make a nut-free recipe, it is possible to eliminate walnuts and increase the number of oats to half.

Also, I like to coat the sausages in Tamari sauce before cooking them. If you’d like, however, you could apply a coat of coconut aminos, or your preferred hot sauce.

Can You Make Sausages With Casing?

You can indeed make these sausages using an outer casing for some more crunch. When I make an organic sausage casing, I typically use rice paper.

To create the casing, dip the rice paper in warm water for five minutes. Slice the pieces into small bits and then wrap every steaming sausage inside the paper. Fry the sausages lightly for seven minutes.

What is the best combination with Sausages?

I enjoy serving my sausages with a fresh salad. I prefer watercress or plain lettuce. Because sausages are filled with calories, I think this is a great choice as a dish option.

However, if you’d like more of a meal, serve your sausages with potato mash, or cook them into vegetarian hot dogs!

The sausages make an excellent topping for casseroles, pizzas, or even as an addition to sandwiches!

How to Make Vegetable Sausages

Step 1

Assemble your ingredients.

Make the chia egg. Mix chia seeds with water. Set aside at least 5 mins.

Step 2

In the food processor, combine the oats and walnuts in a food processor. Process until you’ve got an ingredient that is like flour.

Include the remaining ingredients: onions, beans, and chia seeds. Add tomato sauce, sauce of tamari garlic as well as paprika, Italian seasoning, and cumin.

Step 3

Mix the mixture until it’s smooth. Add pepper and salt.

Make 6 sausages.

Wrap them in a piece of parchment paper. Close by wrapping aluminum foil.

Step 4

Refrigerate wrapped sausages for 20 minutes.
