Can you make waffles without milk? Yes, you can. I’ve created some recipes from my experience as a pastry chef and created the most delicious waffles without any milk recipe.
I was a pastry chef at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel, The Plaza NYC, and The Savoy in London. In the kitchen, we were frequently asked by guests of the hotel for alternatives or substitutes, such as waffles without milk and I am happy to share these recipes with you!
Although the majority of us enjoy tasty warm waffles, those with lactose intolerance could not think about it. There are, of course, waffle recipes made with milk that is derived from nuts however what happens is the best option for someone who has a problem with nuts?
Can you make waffles with no dairy or nuts? What is their flavor? Will they be soft yet crispy, crunchy, and nascent of the waffle iron?
Making homemade waffles with this recipe is simple. You know when you have perfected making the best waffles when they are crisp with a light and soft center.
They’re delicious with any toppings – fresh berries, chocolate that has been melted, mascarpone cream, or peanut butter sprinkled on top. It’s entirely you’re choice!
What Do You Substitute For Milk In Waffles?
To make the recipe non-dairy, I made use of plain water. Although it could seem like poor choice water is just fine.
If you review the ingredients you will find, you will not have to think about it in the least. Butter will make up for the absence of milk however, if you’d like waffles that aren’t buttery then you can substitute coconut oil.
So, you’ll get no dairy ingredients in your pancakes. Plain liquid water is the only thing you require to make this recipe, and trust me when I say that it will be perfect.
Tips To Make Perfect Crispy Waffles Everytime!
Warm-up your waffle iron for a better chance to get the best high-quality waffles with crisp edges, a hot iron is essential.
It is not possible to use a hot but not very hot waffle iron since the waffles may require longer to cook and you could end up compromising their final appearance.
I would suggest you begin with medium-high heat because that is your perfect temperature. High temperatures could cause burns to your waffles, so be cautious.
When the cookware is heated up, you can begin to make the waffle batter. Mix the eggs and sugar until it becomes fluffy. Add vanilla too. The more fluffy they become as mixing the batter the more delicious the waffles will turn out.
When you have a smooth mix then add baking soda and flour. It is recommended to sift the ingredients, to make sure that they are well-mixed.
Then, add the water and mix until you’ve got the consistency of a fine batter. This can be done with an electric whisk or a hand mixer with dough hooks attached.
After you have made the batter after mixing, make 1/2 cup of batter for each waffle and spread it out over the waffle iron. Make sure to fill each section before closing the lid.
Don’t give in to the temptation to open the iron to examine the waffles. Simply let the ironwork its magic. Make sure to keep the waffles warm following. I prefer to keep my waffles warm in an oven that is heated.
The Best Method To Serve Waffles
The waffles can be served with whatever you want. I am a huge fan of fresh berries and the berry sauce. You can crush several of them, then mix them with sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of water in a saucepan.
Bake until the berries become tender. It is a delicious homemade berry sauce, which is made amazing every time.
Another option is melting chocolate, or simply banana slices with peanut butter.
What Is The Best Iron For Waffles?
In general, there are no guidelines. I prefer to create my own using an iron with a heart shape such as that one(yes I’m a fan of hearts) However, you could make your own using the Belgian waffle maker or even an ice-cream maker.
My waffles are made with smaller holes and the Belgian waffles are larger. This allows them to serve with various fruit sauces because it won’t slide across them but will remain within those holes.
Any type of waffle iron can be used but you must be aware of the dimensions since certain waffle irons can’t accommodate less than 1/4 cup of batter.
